History of School

 

Thiru D.O. Asher who was born at Jamnagar in Gujarat in a humble family, came to Tirupur to undertake a business at his early age. He got settled at Tirupur thereafter.

🔰 During that period women were not allowed to go to school. It was the long-cherished wish of Mrs. Jaivabai, wife of D.O. Asher to give higher education to girls.

Her dream became true in 1942. But she was not alive when D.O Asher started Srimathi Jaivabai Devji Asher High school in Vavipalayam.

“If you educate a man, you educate an individual, but if you educate a woman you educate a nation”  

        🔱As per the words given above schools for girls, was shifted to the present place in 1944 with 7.5 acres land and handed it over to Tirupur Municipality. Thus he fulfilled his beloved wife’s wish. Our school is empowering women till now. This place has been instrumental in preparing the Leaders, Teachers, Scientist, Doctor, Engineer’s, Farmers etc.

  🔱In 1942 our school was established as primary school at Vavipalayam in Tirupur. In 1944 our school was shifted to the present place with one main building. In 1947 it obtained recognition for Upper Primary School from the Government of Tamilnadu. Additional classrooms were constructed in 1946 and 1951.

  🔱In 1953 our school was upgraded to Secondary Grade by the Government of Tamilnadu. In 1965 Home Science Group building was established. In 1978 Tamilnadu Government upgraded the school to Secondary Level.
